History of the Department of Public Management and Policy, Tunghai University
The Department of Public Management and Policy at Tunghai University holds a significant position in Taiwan’s public sector. Its origins trace back to the university’s Department of Political Science, specifically within the Public Administration Division.
- 1977: The Department of Political Science was divided into two groups: Political Theory and Public Administration.
- 1986: The Public Administration Division became an independent department, officially establishing the Department of Public Administration, offering both undergraduate and master's programs.
- 2002: The department expanded by adding an undergraduate program for working professionals in the Continuing Education Division.
- 2006: The department was renamed the Department of Public Management and Policy.
- 2009: The undergraduate program for working professionals was discontinued, and a master's program for professionals in the Third Sector was introduced.
- 2019: The Third Sector master's program was discontinued.
- 2020: The undergraduate program was approved by the Ministry of Education to expand to two classes.
